Why do Babies Cry?
All babies are genetically programmed to call out for comfort when they are distressed about something. Crying is a way of telling you that they need help.
Babies do not cry to exercise their lungs, to annoy and control you or for the fun of it!
They cry when they are unhappy and need to alert you they something is bothering them. They might be hungry, thirsty, uncomfortable or tired.
They are asking for your help!
At first it can be hard to work out what the crying means, but as you get to know your baby you will be able to read their cries more and more accurately. For example, you will learn to tell a hungry cry from a tired cry.
